Our therapists hear these or similar sentences more often than they would like: „I’m not mentally ill! I’m not crazy! I’m overworked and very stressed.“
However, the frequency of these or similar sentences has also decreased as the pandemic has subsided. Through the daily news, everyone has become aware of mental health problems. The stigmatization of mental health problems is decreasing. More and more people are not only noticing that they are „not feeling well“ – they are looking for help.
And yet, the difference between seeking help or seeking support could not be greater between, for example, Germany and the USA. Through the various media, people in Germany know that many people of ALL AGES IN THE STATES regularly visit a therapist. This was often ridiculed – if not ridiculed – in the „old world“.
However, in the U.S., people don’t only go to a therapist when they have serious problems. In the „new world“, the therapist is usually a „life coach“.
It’s very different in Germany.
Here, people only seek help when they have a serious problem. When they „can’t take it anymore“. If they notice that the load is getting bigger and bigger, they can no longer „rest“, they even develop physical symptoms (somatoform disorders).
It was only in the 2.000 years – with the introduction of the „fashionable term“ burnout that it was also known that the most common back pain („I have a back“) does NOT have orthopedic, but psychological causes. And the „back“ is not the only form of psyche expression. (Read more about this in the chapter „Somatoform Disorders“.)

Psychotherapy treats the soul
Science has been studying the human psyche for centuries. To put it simply, she continues to research how our brains works to this day.
Basically, a mental illness is defined as a significant deviation from the norm in experience and behavior, affecting areas of action, thinking and feeling. The most common illnesses are currently depression, anxiety disorders, sleep disorders, stress disorders, psychosomatic illnesses (see „I have a back“), drug, medication and alcohol addiction, sexual disorders, as well as attention and hyperactivity disorders.
Do these symptoms sound familiar to you?
Then don’t hesitate
Psychotherapy is just as broadly based as research into the psyche.
The term psychotherapy originally comes from the Greek. Translated, it means „treatment of the soul.“ „Psychotherapy“ describes the totality of psychological procedures for the healing or alleviation of disorders in the psychological sphere, in social relationships, in behavior or even in certain bodily functions.
Our institute offers the two most researched forms of therapy. These are different forms of behavioral therapy and depth psychology-based therapy.
Helpful forms of therapy
Behavioral therapy
Behavioral therapy is based on the principle that unfavorable behaviors and thought patterns have been learned and can therefore be unlearned. To this end, the patient practices new ways of behaving and thinking with the help of the therapist.
Therapy based on depth psychology
Forms of therapy based on depth psychology represent a further development of psychoanalysis. It is a matter of solving current psychological problems by uncovering and working through unconscious conflicts of the past.
